Description

Penshurst Place

This mediaeval masterpiece which graces one of West Kent’s most beautiful villages, dates from the 13th Century. An early recorded owner was Sir John de Pulteney, four times elected Mayor of London, who wanted an impressive country establishment where he could hunt and entertain on a grand scale within a day’s ride of the City.

Eventually the property passed to the Sidney family who have been guardians for over 500 years and who continue to maintain the estate and develop the stunning 11 acre formal walled garden.
